Punk rock legend Joe Genaro aka Joe Jack Talcum (and many other names), The Dead Milkmen songwriter, guitar player and alternate vocalist is captured Live on here during an acoustic private show in Andrew Jacobs studio.
His clever and thoughtful songwriting transcends easy genre-identification you can witness now like if he was playing especially for you in your own living room.
His Home Recordings 1984-97 released on Valiant Death can be found here on db, and some Dead Milkmen albums as well, so enjoy!
Fresh, well-recorded energetic live acoustic set with acoustic guitar, acoustic slide guitar and vocals with humorous lyrics.
The album was recorded one February night in 2009 in front of a studio audience by engineer Andrew Jacobs. Artist Joe Jack Talcum is a founding member of the band The Dead Milkmen. For this set he performs a handful of songs he wrote with that band, as well as some newer songs of his own, plus a song by contemporary American songwriter Micah Blue Smaldone. There are no overdubs on this recording. Everything was recorded in one take, as a show. Accompanying Mr. Talcum is independent artist Hugh Hamilton on slide guitar and backing vocals, and Marshall Fischer on occasional percussion, to round out the sound. (CD Baby)
This past Saturday (2/21/09) I had the pleasure of hosting Joe Jack Talcum of the Dead Milkmen here in the studio for a ‘living room’ style acoustic show. Thanks to John and Marshall from the Stinging Nettles, we were able to transform the big room here into a performance space and have 30 guests come to this special event.
Joe was joined by Hugh Hamilton on stage who provided dobro, banjo, shakers, tambourine, and vocals. Stinging Nettles joined in on Bongos for a few tunes as well. (Andrew Jacobs)
Same Rip specs as usual, now shake your head and sing along!!
